Employee Volunteering

Tip Sheet for Companies

Important Questions to Consider

Here are some questions to ask yourself when searching for an employee volunteer opportunity:

  • What social issues do your employees see as important?
  • How do your employees currently volunteer on their own?
  • What causes best match the business that your company is in?
  • What business goals should your employee volunteering support?
  • What other goals do your have for your employee volunteer program?
  • What kind of time commitment can your employees make?
  • Do they wish to involve their families in the volunteer project?
  • Are there age, health or skill requirements for the volunteer project?
  • What special skills do your employees bring to the volunteer project?

You may also browse through our searchable database to find volunteer opportunities for your employee group. The easiest way to find opportunities specifically posted for employee groups is to do an 'Advanced Search' for volunteer opportunities with the suitability 'Employee Group'.

If you don't find anything that fits your needs, try contacting an organization you would like to help out directly to inquire about possible partnerships. More often than not, non-profit organizations welcome all types of help when it presents itself. The full list of Volunteer Calgary member organizations is available here.
